A tale based on a fascinating composer’s life Vaudeville, Broadway, Cartoons and More

TIMBERG ALLEY is a proposed original theater event featuring:

  • Music of Sammy Timberg , from vaudeville to classic Fleischer cartoons of the 1930’s and 40’s, in addition to several unpublished songs written with such notables as Sammy Cahn… sure to set your feet a dancin’ and your heart a singin’.
  • The acclaimed Jazz Rhapsody first performed on the New York stage in 1930.
  • Original vaudeville material from Herman Timberg , Sammy’s brother, star of early Broadway, who wrote and produced for such headliners as The Marx Brothers, Fred and Adele Astaire, Milton Berle, Ed Wynn and many others.
  • Musical numbers reminiscent of the Ziegfeld Follies, following the story of Sammy’s first love, a featured dancer and cover girl.
  • High energy swing dance numbers .

This proposed book with music and lyrics is a sample scenario of the story of Sammy Timberg, his creative achievements and musings during his life – mostly based on fact and mixed with fantasy. It was written after a vast catalog of his music and an amazing family history were uncovered by the Timberg family – material they were only vaguely aware of during his lifetime.

Other fun-filled & or dramatic scenarios can be devised using this body of work. This show is just one example. With the help of the Library of Congress, music archivists and enthusiasts, his music is finding a reawakening at the beginning of a millennium.

This music is as vital and fun now as when it was first written!
