Boopin’ Classicals, a Symphony Concert , is a jazzy collage of cartoon classics from the wonderfully weird, sublimely surrealistic world of Betty Boop, Popeye, Superman and friends, projected on the big screen, accompanied by live symphony orchestra and peppered with on-stage vocal performances. “The Superman March” and score can be played in sync with the Superman cartoon .

Features:  

  • This is a complete symphonic concert, similar in style to the jazz version, available for a full symphony orchestra.
  • The program follows the role of Sammy Timberg’s popular music in animated cartoons from the early days of the Fleischer Studio
  • This unique event, which will appeal to audiences of all ages, offers extraordinary visual images reflecting the art deco style of the early animation artists and the music reflects the popular ‘Tin Pan Alley’ styles of that same era.
  • Use our conductor, performers and your local orchestra or,
  • Use our Boopin’ Orchestra, conductor and two performers, who narrate, sing and dance to many of the Boppin’ hits, while keeping the action lively.
  • Use classic cartoon footage from the 1930’s and 40’s featuring Superman, Betty Boop, Popeye and other characters, which can be projected behind or overhead of the band (depending on local technical requirements).
  • Don’t use the cartoon footage, just music.

Additional Features:

  • SUPERMAN CARTOON – Timberg’s famed music and theme can be played in sync to the classic animated SUPERMAN cartoon (two are available)
  • MUSICALIA – Sammy’s stunning Jazz Rhapsody, applauded by critics and not performed again because of a misunderstood agreement is now available to be played within the framework of this concert in its full rapture – just as it was in 1930. It is also available to be played within the framework of another concert.
